Winter Park Brand Session with Cathy Engelman

I got to go to the home of Cathy Engelman for her brand session. Her home was filled with unique one of a kind pieces from all over the world. Cathy was looking for images to use in her philanthropy work. She is a successful businesswoman and philanthropist who has dedicated her life to giving back to the community. Born and raised in Winter Park, Florida. Cathy attended St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School and Bishop Moore Catholic High School. She then went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Belmont Abbey College.

Cathy’s career in the medical field spanned over 25 years. During which she worked in home health care sales and management. Where she managed a national sales force, and founded and sold Optimal Translation & Transportation Services. Which is an organization that provided national on-site interpretation and medical transportation services to injured workers.

Cathy’s philanthropic endeavors include supporting the following organizations such as..

Bishop Moore Catholic, St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Support Our Scholars, The Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center, The Orlando Ballet, The Orlando Museum of Art, Enzian Theater. As well as The National Wildlife Museum, Grand Teton Music Festival, and being a member of The Corpus Christi Society.

One of her most significant contributions was establishing The Cathy McCaw-Engelman and Family Cancer Research Collaborative Fund at the UCF Foundation, Inc. The investment in UCF’s cancer research has allowed Dr. Annette Khaled to purchase new technology called CELLSEARCH. Which can detect circulating tumor cells in the blood and has aided in the research of Colon Cancer and Neuroblastoma. The gift has yielded three new grants, including an NIH Fellowship for an MD/Ph.D. student.

Despite retiring in 2011, Cathy remains actively involved in philanthropy and making a positive impact in her community. Cathy’s legacy of giving back serves as an inspiration to all those around her, and her contributions have undoubtedly made a significant difference in the lives of many.
